How you can help.
Every year The Marigold Mile endeavors to plant between 8,000 to 10,000 marigolds. With the help of Riverview Gardens, we need volunteers to help in prepping the soil along the curbs on South Oneida Street, planting the marigolds, weeding, and watering throughout the growing season.
Interested in volunteering? Need community service hours? Do you get volunteer time through your company?
Approximate Timeline to begin volunteering (weather dependent with late April snow or rainy May days):
Early/Middle of May - Prepping the curbs by cleaning up after a long winter.
Tuesday after Memorial Day - First day of planting!
Estimated 3 weeks in June - Finish with planting.
June through September - Maintaining the Mile by watering, weeding, and deadheading.
October through November - Remove flowers before the ground freezes.
If you are interesting in volunteering, please fill in this form so we can keep in contact with you on the planting and maintenance schedule. To beat the heat, The Marigold Mile crew are usually out most weekdays from 7:30-10:00am. If you need a later start time or are looking to volunteer on the weekend, please include that information in the message area on the form so we can staff the Mile appropriately.
